The typical Installation and Application of the Callbox for a Multistory construction project is placing an XT-series Callbox in the Hoist Car or Elevator and a Q-series Callbox on each floor. As the Trades move between floors or need to call for materials, they simply push the "push-to-talk" (PTT) on the Callbox located on each floor to access 2-way communication with the Hoist Car or Elevator Operator. The Callbox in the Hoist/Elevator is hard-wired for power so that it is "always on" and available. The Callboxes on each floor go into "standby" mode until the PTT button is pressed. This allows the Callbox on each floor to communicate with the Hoist/Elevator Operator without the other Callboxes on the other floors hearing the transmission.
The wireless radio technology allows each Callbox to be placed where it is needed without needing to run wires or conduit between floors or to the Hoist/Elevator. Easy to install and redeploy if needed.
Battery-Powered by alkaline D-Cell batteries provides an average of 7,000 transmissions without the need to run wires and conduit for power. The Callbox will send a message when the batteries begin to get low so there is no guesswork on when the batteries need to be replaced.
Russell, the owner of a crane, hoist, and equipment leasing company serving the construction industry in the Minneapolis - Saint Paul area, has been leasing hard-wired intercom systems to construction companies for years.
